Program Information/Mission

The mission of the Automotive Technology Specialist certificate is to prepare students for employment as an apprentice technician. Students will be qualified for employment in automobile dealers, independent repair shops, fleet service facilities, municipalities, mass merchandisers, auto manufacturers, part and component distributors, and other service-oriented businesses.

Additional Program Information

Students participate in three internships during the program. Students are encouraged to take the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) exams in Engine Repair, Steering and Suspension, Brakes, Automatic Transmissions, Manual Transmissions, Air Conditioning. ASE is a Certification program that qualifies the student as a technician worldwide. See Program Chair for materials and resource requirement for program classes.

Students entering the program should have mechanical aptitude and be interested in mechanical work.
