Program Information/Mission

The mission of the Automotive Repair Specialist certificate program is to prepare students for employment as a basic repair technician. Students are employed by automobile dealers, independent repair shops, fleet service shops, local governments, mass merchandisers, auto manufacturers, part and component distributors, and other service-oriented businesses.

Additional Program Information

Students participate in two internships during the program. Students are encouraged to take the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) exams in Maintenance and Light Repair, Steering and Suspension and Engine Repair. ASE is a technician certification program that qualifies the student as a technician in other states as well. See Program Chair for materials and resource requirement for program classes.

Students entering the program should have mechanical aptitude and be interested in mechanical work.
