Program Information/Mission
Tractor trailer drivers are prepared to take the Illinois Secretary of State administered Class A Road Test, which results in a Commercial Drivers License (CDL). Drivers with CDLs are employed by a variety of trucking industry companies. Subjects covered include trucking and transport regulations, reporting, map reading and trip planning, as well as driving techniques. The program consists of classroom lecture and yard work (backing skills and pre-trip inspections), and on the road experience. Program charges include tuition and truck driver instruction fee.Â

Program requirements include:
The Illinois Secretary of State Commercial Learner’s Permit exams are written tests administered in English only, the test is written at an approximate 8th grade level
Minimum age of 18 (those over age 21 receive greater placement assistance)
Ability to meet the Federal Department of Transportation requirements
A valid regular driver´s license; and acceptable driving history
Prior to enrolling in this program, students are encouraged to obtain a copy of their Motor Vehicle Report from the Secretary of State´s Drivers License Bureau
