Drug & Alcohol Counselor Training

GOAL 1 Students will demonstrate the knowledge to be employed in the Drug and Alcohol Treatment industry as an entry-level employee.

1. Students will be able to describe the role of the Drug and Alcohol Treatment industry.

2. Students will be able to articulate various theories in addiction, treatment and recovery for addition.

GOAL 2 Students will demonstrate the skills necessary to treat clients.

1. Students will be able to analyze Substance Abuse Disorder patient diagnosis and placement as per the DSM-V and ASAM.

2. Students will be able to apply the theories/models specific to Substance Abuse Disorder.

GOAL 3 Students will demonstrate the need for ethical decision-making in the treating of clients.

1. Students will be to demonstrate basic awareness of the need for ethical behavior in developing treatment plans for their clients.

2. Students will be able to adhere to confidentiality guidelines while providing client care.
