Program Information/Mission

The mission of the Emergency Medical Technician certificate program is to prepare graduates for licensure/certification and employment as an EMT by providing theoretical knowledge, practicing technical skills, simulation, and field practicums, and enhancing professional behaviors.

Admission to Program

Admission requirement:

  • Current high school senior OR high school graduate

AND

  • Reading placement into ENGL 095


Additional requirements after program acceptance:

  • Complete drug screen, criminal background check, physical examination and immunizations

  • Participate in scheduled program registration and orientation sessions

Accreditation Information

EMS Program courses are approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health, Division of Emergency Medical Systems and Highway Safety.

To Remain in and Graduate from the Program

Students must attain a grade of C or better in EMS 121 and EMS 122 courses in order to graduate from the program.
